Patricia Anne "Patti" Shave

2025-11-05

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Patricia Anne “Patti” Shave, 57, of Lithia, Florida, who went home to be with her Lord on November 5th, 2025.

Patti was born in Galveston, Texas, on May 25, 1968, to Ed and Judy Scadden. Two years later, she was joined by her sister, soulmate, and best friend, Debbie (Sampson). Patti spent her early years in Houston, Texas, before her family settled in Orange Park, Florida. She graduated from Orange Park High School in 1986 and proudly served as the Grand Worthy Advisor for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls from 1987–1988. Patti went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida (1989) and a master’s degree in Speech Pathology from Florida State University (1992). She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Ed Scadden, on October 5, 2015 — a man she deeply loved and admired.

In 1999, Patti moved to Gainesville, Florida, where she worked as a speech pathologist and began raising her two amazing children, Zac (1996) and Morgan (1998). In 2000, while attending an Alpha Course at Trinity United Methodist Church, she met the love of her life, Rick Shave. The two married on June 10, 2001, and soon after made their home in Lithia, Florida. Together, they welcomed two wonderful sons, Benjamin (2003) and Logan (2007), and built a life centered on love, faith, and family in the FishHawk community. Patti was her children’s biggest cheerleader and never missed a game, performance, or event. She was always there on the sidelines, cheering, supporting, and celebrating every moment.

During her time in Lithia, Patti continued to work as a speech therapist in local elementary schools. She cared deeply for her students and put her heart into helping them grow. Patti had a gift for connecting with kids, seeing their potential, and celebrating every small victory. Her compassion and patience made a lasting difference in their lives, both inside and outside the classroom. The teachers at her school affectionately referred to her as “Sunshine,” she was always a guiding light to the children.

At home, Patti was the heart of the family — the chef, organizer, IT expert, and foundation that kept everything running smoothly. She always seemed to know the answer even before the question was asked. Her organizational skills were unmatched — From the chronological photo albums she created for each child and the many family vacations, to family records kept with care, and each storage container and utensil always in its place.

Patti was an incredible, loving, faithful wife and mother. She invested herself in the family and always made sure all the details were covered. Patti loved all her children equally and more deeply than they could ever know. Her happiness came from celebrating even the smallest successes her children achieved, finding joy in every step they took forward. Perhaps the only rival to her love for her children was her love for her two grandchildren, Denver and Drayden Ross (Dimychael). She was just as devoted to them as she was to each of her own children.

Patti loved the Lord and made serving others her life’s purpose. She found joy in time with friends, the beauty of the beach and mountains, and the excitement of youth sports. Above all, her greatest happiness was being at home, surrounded by the family she cherished most.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 A.M. at Browning Road Baptist Church, 11702 Browning Road, Lithia, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ESE Department at Buckhorn Elementary School (Valrico, FL) or Pinecrest Elementary School (Lithia, FL).
