She grew up in Fernandina Beach, Florida, graduating from Fernandina Beach High School in 1956. She met her first husband and father of her children, Barney Wilson Johns, while attending Bible Baptist Church. They answered God’s call to ministry and moved to Springfield, MO to attend Bible Baptist College. They spent the next 20 years planting churches in Waycross, GA, Columbus, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Eastman, GA and Harlem, GA. The family returned to Jacksonville, FL and Patricia worked for Crowley Maritime Corporation and at H & R Block until retirement.
She met her 2nd husband at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida and married in 1996. They loved traveling and ballroom dancing. Together they enjoyed the company of their sweet dog, Niki. Phil left for Heaven the prior week and Patricia did not want to be left behind.
She is the daughter of the late Marion and Myrtle Mae Weaver, and in addition to her spouses, she is preceded in death by her son, Johnny Lewis Johns, her brothers: Louis Weaver (Wanda) and Bobby Weaver (Roberta).
She leaves behind her children, Alicia J. Rhoades (Jim), Augusta, GA and William B. Johns, Augusta, GA. Her grandchildren, Jordan C. Rhoades (Allison), Hephzibah, GA; Christopher C. Johns (Taryn), Evans, GA and Tehya Johns, Waco, Texas; her brothers, Ronnie Weaver (Robin) and Billy Weaver (Louise); and sister-in-law, Lois Montfort. She also leaves behind five stepchildren and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A service to remember and celebrate her life will be held in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Sunday, November 14th at 2:00. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service.
Rather than flowers, her family asks you share an act of kindness in her memory.
