Perry Meixsel

Perry C. Meixsel, 88, a longtime resident of Danielsville, Georgia, passed away on November 11, 2022, Veterans Day, in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

He was born on December 23, 1933, in Commerce, Georgia, to the late William F. and Francis Stone Meixsel. He joined the Air Force in 1951 and retired in 1974 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. The first half of his career was spent as a KC-97 mechanic and crew chief with the Strategic Air Command. He was assigned to Asia in 1965 and spent much of the remainder of his military service there, assigned to bases in the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan.

After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for many years at the Athens-Clarke County Georgia airport.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Shelly Anne Meixsel, of Superior, Wisconsin, and an older brother, William R. McClure. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois Anne Dawson Meixsel; sons, Perry (Rose) of Camden County, Georgia; and Richard (Christine) of Charlottesville, Virginia; his sister, Patricia Jennings, of Jefferson, Georgia; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He desired no services, but will be cremated, and a headstone placed in the family plot in the Southview Cemetery in Clarkesville Georgia.
