Carmen and Carol Quintiliani

Dear Mrs. Kelly, Children & Grandchildren, It is with great sadness that we reach out with sympathy on the passing of your loved one, Peter Kelly. We did not know Peter but have known Janine Kelly, his daughter-in-law, for many years. She shared with us his passing. Upon reading Peter's obituary, we learned the essence of who Peter was. He was devoted to his wife and family; and as importantly, to his faith and church. May God bless you all during this difficult time; and may He hold Peter closely in His Loving Arms. Peace, Prayers & deepest sympathy, Carmen & Carol Quintiliani, Waltham, MA (dear friends of Janine Kelly)

Peter was a great friend to Gary and I and our family. Always a smile on his face! We shared many happy times together over the many years we knew him. Will miss him and will pray for him. He is indeed happy in heaven now. My sincere condolences to Joyce and to his family.

I love you, daddy. Thank you for all that you have done for our family. I will miss your sage advice, your lessons in history, and most of all your laughter and love. Rest easy, dad. See you on the other side.

It is with profound sadness that we learned of Peter’s passing. For almost five decades it was our blessing to have known Peter and his family. He was a great colleague and a caring, close friend. We shared with Peter and his family holidays, vacations, social gatherings and many of life’s blessings. Peter and his wonderful Irish sense of humor will be missed. We extend our condolences to Joyce and his family. The blessing of having known Peter far transcends the sadness of his passing. May he rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.

I have been Peter's friend for 40 years and I am sad and devastated by his unexpected passing. Peter was a great friend. He was honest, kind, funny, caring and a true gentleman! Peter was a religious man who is now being rewarded for a life well-lived in heaven. My deep condolences to his wonderful family, especially Joyce, his wife and high school sweetheart. .

My deepest condolences to the family. Peter was truly a beautiful soul and loving heart. Peter had so much love for his family and a tremendous devotion to our Lord, especially in the Eucharist. I will always remember our long conversations when he called the church office. I know he is in Paradise and will be watching over his loved ones. You are in my prayers and thoughts. I am blessed having known him. 🙏

Peter P. Kelly, Jr.

2025-06-27

Peter Kelly, of Amelia Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on May 21, 1942, in New Britain, Connecticut, Peter led a life defined by quiet devotion—to his family, community, work, and faith. He graduated from New Britain High School, earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University, followed by a master’s degree at the University of Connecticut.
Peter married his high school sweetheart, Joyce, and together they raised three children. A longtime resident of Wilton, Connecticut, Peter spent 36 years working in finance, including many years as a Senior Executive at MBIA, Inc.
His faith in God guided him throughout his life, not just in belief but in daily action—always leading with kindness and humility. Whether on the golf course, outside of church, or simply passing by, Peter greeted neighbors and friends with an easy Irish smile, ready with a story, a wry observation, or a thoughtful word. He had the rare gift of putting others at ease. He also, by his own admission, wished his golf game had been better.

He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Helen Kelly. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; his brother, Brian; his children, Mark (Janine) Kelly, Kevin (Brooke) Kelly, and Kristin (Joe) Lombardi; as well as his six grandchildren—Justin, Matthew, Emma, Marissa, Summer, and Emily—who brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach beginning at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest immediately in a private family burial at Bosque Bello Cemetery. Afterwards, there will be a reception in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barnabas Center of Nassau County or to Catholic Charities, in honor of Peter’s lifelong commitment to service and faith.
