We were sadden to hear of Quinnie’s passing. We enjoyed dancing and interesting conversations with him and Betty at the River City dances. In conversation, he and Lana discovered they both retired from CSX. He will be sorely missed.

Quinnie Reid Williams Sr., 90 years old of Yulee, Florida passed away on December 24, 2023 at Baptist Nassau Hospital.
He was born on December 31,1932 in Savannah, Georgia to Berry H Williams and Margaret “Stella” Covington. He grew up in Savannah and graduated from Chatum County High School. After graduation Quinnie began working for Seaboard Coastline Railroad, now CSX ,where he retired after 42 years of service.
was known for his love of dance, and was at one time an instructor for The Arthur Murray School of Dance. He was with a regular group of friends almost every weekend for ballroom dancing. One of his favorite dances was the Jitter-bug. Quinnie was a 33rd degree Mason, a member of Solomon’s Lodge #1 F & A M of Savannah, GA since 1956, as well as a member of The Blue Lodge, Fernandina Beach, Eastern Stars, Fernandina Beach, Damascus Commandery No.2, Jacksonville, Shriners Morocco Temple, Jacksonville, Scottish Rite, Jacksonville, Georgia National Guard and a lifetime member of The Chatum Artillery, Savannah.
He is predeceased by his parents, six siblings, his wife Shirley Farnell Williams and his second wife Jean Layland Williams, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Quinnie leaves behind his children Quinnie “Reid” Williams Jr., Paula Williams Jones and Isaac Colson Williams, 9 Grandchildren, 17 Great-grand Children, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, and his long-time companion and dance partner, Betty Anding Loyd.
Funeral Services will be held on January 6th 2024 at Oxley Heard Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Bosque Bello Cemetery in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
