Miranda Dixon

I met Rachel through Staples. We use to work together, we worked in separate departments. I always enjoyed her company and eventually we started hanging out outside of our jobs. She was so funny, caring, and overall an amazing person to be around. She was an amazing friend and I wish I could spend more time with her. She was an amazing person! I will always cherish the memories.

Lisa Whiteman

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rachel’s passing. I was a customer of hers at Staples. She was always cheerful and was professional and proficient in her job. I had no idea she suffered from Lupus, a testament to the fact that she always put on her best face to the public. I will miss her and I know Staples will have a hard time filling her shoes. I’m sure you are very Proud of her!

My heart is broken to learn of my friend's passing. I met Rachel through her work in the graphics department at Staples here in Fernandina Beach. She helped me design and print posters and cards for my book and always did such an awesome job. Rachel was a happy warrior, always cheerful and chatty, even on days when I could tell she was in pain. I will miss you, sweet Rachel. The world is a smaller place without you. You've earned your angel's wings. Fly high forever.

It saddens me to acknowledge the passing of Rachel, one who had fought so hard, but it is a joy to know her battle was fought, her victory has been won and she’s entered into the Master’s joy! She will forever be remembered for her kindness and beautiful spirit. My love and prayers are with my classmate, Mr. Conner Green, his parents, and their entire family as they face the days ahead.

My heart is devastated for the Lewis-Green family. Rachel always had such a sweet spirit. I had the privilege of watching her grow from a baby into a little girl that would enjoy dance parties when I’d babysit her, then blossoming into an amazing young lady who loved being an Aunt, and eventually bonding over our love for Las Vegas as adults. Anytime you lose a friend that you consider family the grief is overwhelming. Rachel, you will always be loved and remembered!

Teddie Skipper

Rachel was a sweet and caring person I worked at Staples with her in the print shopShe would always tell me stories of her nephew Forest

Rachel!!!! Always a laugh, a smile, a quick jab (at her mom usually) or comment to keep the conversation going. Rachel never let on if she was hurting or in a bad mood when we would run into each other at sunset downtown or passing on the street. To Ralph, Cathy and the family, my heart goes out to you. Rachel will be missed greatly. Peace be with her now, the suffering and pain is over.🥲 💚

Lupus brought Rachel & I together, but we bonded over conversations, about life in general living with Lupus. I looked forward to our conversations about anything & nothing. Rachel had a funny bone, as she would post something funny in our group online. She would always find something funny about what was going on & I will miss that humor & wit. But now My thoughts & prayers are with Her Family, Friends & for all the many touches Rachel left on Us all. Rest Well My Butterfly Warrior 🦋 🤺💜 🙏🏾

Ralph, Cathy, and family, I can't imagine what you are going through at this time. My heart hurts for yours. While we moved away when our kids were little, I know her parents and knew her grandparents. From what I have read, it sounds like Rachel was good people like the rest of her family. I wish I could be there to give you guys a hug. Know that I will be thinking about and praying for you guys today and in the days ahead. May the God of all peace give you comfort.

Rachel Catherine Green

2022-08-28

Rachel Catherine Green, 35, of Fernandina Beach passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Baptist Medical Center, Nassau.

She was born in Jacksonville and was the daughter of Ralph Green and Catherine Lewis. Rachel called Fernandina Beach home for all her life.

She attended local schools and was a member the Fernandina Beach High School Class of 2005. She earned her Associate of Arts degree from FSCJ. Rachel had worked at Staples in Fernandina Beach, in the copy center, for the last 13 years. She was a delightful young woman who was loved by her customers. She had the knack for being friends with anyone. Over her young life Rachel had many physicians. Because of her outgoing personality, she became “one of the family” at nearly all her physician’s offices.

Rachel enjoyed nothing more than to shop and find a good deal. Sometimes she was called the “Queen of Couponing” and could always search out the best deals. After her family, most especially her nephews and her dog, Susie, her favorite things were anything “Tie-Dyed”, Brittany Spears and Tim Tebow. Rachel was inquisitive and often wanted to know everything she could about things which interested her. Her family recalled how going out to eat would sometimes be an adventure, in and of itself. She would ask a multitude of questions about the items on the menu, how they were prepared and what possible options were available.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Carl Green and Betty and Chester Lewis.

She leaves behind her parents, Catherine Lewis and Ralph Green of Fernandina Beach; her brothers, Raleigh (Emily) Green of Fernandina Beach and Connor Green of Orlando; her paternal grandmother, Sippie Green of Fernandina Beach, those special nephews she loved so much, Forrest, Major, Baron, and Titan Green; her aunts, Diane Haymans and Sandra (Jimmy) Shelton of Yulee and Carlene (Mike) O’Kelly of Maryland; her uncles, Ted Green of Fernandina Beach, Raymond Lewis and Bobby Lewis, both of Yulee and several cousins, Joshua (Allison) Lewis, Adam (Kristen) Lewis, Andrew (Chrystal) Lewis, Penny Haymans and James Shelton.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 2, 2022 at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.

She will be laid to rest during a graveside service on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 Am at Conner-Green Cemetery in western Nassau County.

The family asks Rachel be remembered by contributions, in her name, to the Lupus Foundation of America, Southeast Region, 2300 High Ridge Road, Suite 375, Boynton Beach, Florida 33426. www.lupus.org/southeast.
