RaeDene Ruth Bauer Dales 79, of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Alexandria Bay, NY, succumbed to cancer on December 5, 2018, at her home in Amelia Park. She was born in Lorain, Ohio, to Lydema and Raymond Bauer on April 1, 1939, and graduated from Lorain High School. She was devoted to her stepfather, Dr. Sherman Carl Ward, who encouraged her to become a nurse.

She met the love of her life, Douglas S. Dales, Jr., in Ann Arbor, while a nursing student at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). She and Doug raised three sons, who were her pride and joy. She loved them fiercely. RaeDene had six grandchildren. She delighted in creating experiences and memories for them, taking them on adventures to Hoffman�s Playland, Walt Disney World, Racquette Lake, and the St. Lawrence River where she was the founding member of the �Whip Cream Club� � an exclusive and highly caloric association of her grandchildren. RaeDene was generous and wanted her children and grandchildren to know how much they meant to her.

RaeDene was a talented nurse, serving as charge nurse in the pediatric and psychiatric wards, and eventually a nursing instructor at the University of Michigan Hospital. She loved teaching and inspiring the next generation of medical professionals. For nearly 30 years, while raising her family, she enjoyed a successful real estate career in the Capital Region. RaeDene had a terrific eye, and her sense of design was an asset to her clients and her family. She found great joy in helping buyers find the perfect home to suit their families.

RaeDene tended her beautiful gardens on Lexington Parkway, Dingman Point Lane, and finally on Park Avenue, which filled and brightened her days. She was an excellent cook, and passed that skill on to her sons.

RaeDene is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Doug Dales, and her three sons: Doug of Schenectady, NY; Ward (Jorge Baldizon) Dales of North Greenbush, NY; Scott (Joanna) Dales of Kalamazoo, MI. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Aaron (New York, NY), Sean (Clifton Park, NY) and Jordan Dales (Ballston Spa, NY); Charlie, Jack and Will Dales of Kalamazoo, MI. She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Rick Kintner, who comforted her lovingly until the very end.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Raymond Bauer, Jr., and her infant daughter, Stephanie Dales. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider making a memorial contribution to the Save the River organization of the 1,000 Islands.
