Reverend Norman Lee Dalton

2023-04-29

Reverend Norman Lee Dalton died April 29, 2023. He passed peacefully at our Community Hospice Warner facility on Amelia Island, Florida . Norm was born October 30, 1942 in Independence, Missouri.

He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from William Jewell University. He then pursued a theological degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, New Jersey in1968.

Norman married Leah Raye Hughes in 1975. He served as a Presbyterian minister 38 years, and worked as a Community Hospice Chaplain for 3 years. Norman loved to sing in the chapel choir and our Island Chamber Singers. Norm narrated the church cantata and enjoyed gardening, music and food. He loved to watch his sons play golf. Norman was a kind, gentle man and deeply loved.

He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Lola Dalton, and by his wife, Leah Raye Dalton. Norm is survived by his sister Carolyn S. Cargyle and step sons Tom (Stacye) and Bill (Beverly) Hughes . He leaves behind five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Reverend Dalton encouraged donations to Amelia Island Plantation Chapel and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. A celebration of his life will be held at the Amelia Island Plantation Chapel on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
