Richard D. Kane

Richard D. Kane, almost 90, retired Executive Vice President of Scott Paper Company, passed away at the Jane & Bill Warner Hospice Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Florida on June 27, 2020.
He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania and moved to Florida in 1989 after living several years in Ocean City, New Jersey. Mr. Kane attended Swarthmore College and was a graduate of the University of Michigan. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, after which he was employed by E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company and later by the Esterbrook Pen Company in its International Department. Mr. Kane resumed his education and received an MBA degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in December 1961. He then joined Scott Paper and was an early member of the company�s newly formed International Division where he played a significant role in its growth into an important arm of Scott�s corporate structure.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Jean T. Kane (nee Thompson) and his sons Richard D. Jr. (Arlene), David T. (Lane) and Jeffrey B. (Rita), all residents of Fernandina Beach, and a daughter, Susan K. Langager (John) of Spring Hill, Tennessee and nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
