Robert E. �Bob� Powell, age 79, of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away at the Warner Center Community Hospice on Thursday, April 26, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born in Monticello, Georgia on October 3, 1938 and attended Middle Georgia College and Oglethorpe University. On June 12th, 1960 he married Billy Jean Browning of Hazlehurst, Georgia.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Emmie Louise Powell, as well as his only daughter Christa Powell Walley. He is survived by his wife Billy Browning Powell, son Robert (Alice) Powell, Jr., son-in-law James (Kathy) Walley, grandchildren Gary Walley, Matthew Walley, Brittney (Dexter) Powell Freeman, and Robert Powell III, and three great grandchildren. Equally important to him were his many friends who touched his life and became like family.

Bob�s long and distinguished career in Agri Business, notably with Central Soya Company, Super Sweet Feeds, Poultry Health Services, and Ivesco, moved him and his family all over the South and Midwest where they made many lifelong friends.

Bob loved the beach, and his lifelong dream was realized during the last 21 years by living in Fernandina Beach, Florida on the ocean. He also loved to cruise and travel with family and friends and visited six of the seven continents. He selflessly volunteered for his church and numerous organizations throughout his life. Bob loved to tell his grandchildren �leave more than you take.� Bob was a warm, happy, joking, and loving person to all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

The family requests donations may be made in his memory to Memorial UMC or The Barnabas Center.
