Robert J. Siebert
2018-07-26
Robert J. Siebert, of Amelia Island, Florida, died on July 26, 2018. He was 97 years old. Mr. Siebert was born on October 10, 1920 in New York City. After graduating from City College of New York in 1941, he entered the US Navy. He met Dorothy Luyster of Sea Cliff, Long Island while in a 90 day Naval Officer Training Program for service during World War II and they married in 1944 between his active duty in both Atlantic and Pacific theaters.
Mr. Siebert had a long and distinguished career in business. Upon leaving the Navy at the end of the war, he joined Philadelphia based Crown Cork & Seal Co., Inc. where he rose to become VP of Marketing and Sales as well as Director of the Company. He left Crown after 28 years to become President of CRC Chemicals in 1974 and retired from there in 1988. He remained on the Board at Crown throughout the decades, stepping down in 1998 after 52 years of association with the Company.
In addition to his wife of 74 years, Bob Siebert is survived by sons Peter and Donald and their wives. His oldest son Michael predeceased him in 2012. Eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive him. They all feel blessed to have had him in their lives for so long, as do numerous relatives, friends and colleagues who were touched by his warmth and humor.
Family services are scheduled for August 13th. There will be a service for friends and community at the Amelia Plantation Chapel at 11:00am on October 10, 2018, which would have been his 98th birthday.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Amelia Plantation Chapel.
