Roberta (Bert) Jean Peterson passed away at the age of 92 on October 19, 2020 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The world was blessed with the appearance of Bert on June 8, 1928. She born in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Her parents were Owen Robert and Jennie Whitby Sanders. Bert was the third of four siblings: Clayton, Sarah and Margaret. She lived and grew up on Date Street and attended Fernandina Beach High School.

Bert married Hydie Roland Peterson, Jr. on June 19, 1949, after he returned from the Navy. He was the love of her life for 65 years. They had three children: Jennie Elizabeth, Hydie Roland III and Eric Owen.

For years, Hydie and Bert owned and operated Peterson Packing Company, Sportsman�s Wharf, Seafood City and Cap�n Pete�s in Fernandina Beach. Bert was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and was very active in the St. Michael�s Catholic Church. She cherished playing bridge with her church friends.

Later in life, Hydie began a new career in real estate and with Bert's assistance, they moved to the Keys and became one of the top realtors. Their success led to them retiring in 1994 to Sebring, Florida. They built their retirement home on Lake Istokpoga and enjoyed life fishing and gardening. They loved orchids and were very active members of the Orchid Society and Master Gardeners.

They were born a block away from each other. Both left this world at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs. Hydie preceded her by six years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennie (Mark) Peebles of Punta Gorda, FL; her sons, Hydie R. Peterson III (Rhonda) of Titusville, FL; and Eric (Sharon) Peterson of Chuluota, FL.

Bert has eight grandchildren,: Nikie (Steve) Chaplauske of Fernandina Beach, FL; Derek (Salina) Johnson of Wilton, CT: Hydie R. Peterson IV (Nick) of Titusville, FL, Ronnie Peterson of Fernandina Beach, FL; Erica (Daniel) Delk of Chuluota, FL; Michael Peterson (Shae) of Maui, HI; Dillian Haight of Chuluota, FL. and Devon Quesinberry of Chuluota, FL.

She has six great grandchildren. They are Rob Wilson of Yulee, FL; Christopher Wilson of Fernandina Beach, FL; Sloan Peterson of Fernandina Beach, FL; Slade Peterson of Fernandina Beach, FL; Olivia Johnson of Wilton, CT; and Emily Delk of Chuluota, FL.

Bert also has two great, great grandchildren: Layla Wilson of Yulee, FL and Luke Wilson of Yulee, FL.

Bert is also survived by her sister-in-law, LaVerne Hamilton of Fernandina Beach, FL. and her brother-in-law, Terry (Emily) Peterson of Fernandina Beach, FL.

She will be laid to rest at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
