Ronald Bernard �Ron� Alvarez, age 74, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his residence.

Born in Tacoma, WA on May 10, 1943, Ron was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Alvarez and his wife of 42 years Kristin J. Alvarez. He grew up in West Palm Beach and graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of South Florida. He retired from the State of Florida as a Probation Officer and enjoyed teaching water aerobics while living in Keene, NH and Redlands, CA in his retirement. Always active in the Episcopal Church, he found meaning and joy in the Cursillo community and Kairos ministry to the incarcerated. He was an amazing cook, loved theater, and was a history buff, enjoying historical documentaries and non-fiction along with his daily devotional readings.

He is survived by his three daughters; Paige Hanks and her husband, David, Alexa Alvarez, and Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Alvarez; granddaughters; Amelia Hanks and Bianca Alvarez; as well as his brothers; Joseph Alvarez and Kenneth Alvarez and other beloved family members.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Peter�s Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach. A reception will be held in Burns Hall following the service.
