Roxie Peeples Ritchie

Mrs. Roxie Peeples Ritchie, age 84 of Yulee, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017 at her home. Born in Mountain City, GA she was the youngest of four children born to the late Virgil and Mertie Garner Jiles. She grew up in Rabun County where she made her home until moving to Jacksonville in 1955. While living in Jacksonville she worked at King Edward Cigar Factory. In 1956 she moved to Yulee where she had remained until her passing.

Those that knew Roxie will recall her love of walking. Multiple times a day she would make her walks around her neighborhood. In addition to her strolls, she enjoyed feeding her squirrels and working puzzle books.

She had attended Hedges Baptist Church and had been a longtime member of Community Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Lemuel Peeples Sr. who passed away in 1975 and Bobby Ritchie who passed away in 2001, a brother, W.C. Bennett, a sister, Betty Holbrook and two sons, Virgil Peeples and Larry Queen.

Mrs. Ritchie leaves behind, children, Molly Butler, Mary Mizell, Herbert Peeples (Linda), Mamie Peeples, all of Yulee, FL, Lemuel Peeples, Dan Peeples, David Peeples, Hartford Peeples, Bobby Peeples and Juanita Wilson, a sister, Mary Stewart of Mountain City, GA, many grand and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Hartford Peeples, officiating.

Mrs. Ritchie will be laid to rest in Hughes Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 � 7:00 pm at Oxley Heard.
