Ruth E. McGuirt,78, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Warner Center for Caring.

A native and lifelong resident of Fernandina Beach, she was a daughter of the late William and Ruth Aton Clemmons.

She graduated from Fernandina Beach High School and worked for many years as a housekeeping supervisor at the Amelia Island Plantation. After retirement from the Plantation she worked as a cashier at Walgreens Drug Store.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, reading the bible and spending time with her family. In her younger life she was known to be a very good seamstress and enjoyed sewing as well. She also was devoted to her pet dog.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant bother, Rickey McGuirt and her husband, George McGuirt in 2022.

She leaves behind her children, Mickey McGuirt, Cindy McGuirt and Missy Walker, all of Fernandina Beach; her grandchildren, Jessica, Sonya, Jullius, Hayle, and Christopher as well as several great grandchildren.

As was her wish, there are no plans for formal service but the family will remember her in their own individual way.
