Ruth Yvette (Grondin) McNeil, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died in Fernandina Beach, Florida on September 29, 2023.

Ruth was born in Miami Florida to Roland Grondin and Martha (Strickland) Grondin on July 31, 1942.

She fell in love and married Frank McNeil on December 3, 1960 and was a devoted wife for more than 62 years. She was a proud Navy spouse for 27 of those years stationed in California, Connecticut, Virginia, Washington, Hawaii, Maine, Florida, and Georgia while raising three children. She retired in Georgia after more than 20 years in Civil service.

Ruth was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Yulee, Florida and previous member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She had a quiet faith that helped lead her family through difficult times.

Ruth enjoyed loving on her children and grandchildren, visiting friends, reading suspense novels, gardening, puzzles, and computer games.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Ed Grondin and son Robert McNeil. She is survived by her loving husband Frank McNeil, daughter Anita Harril and her husband Bob, daughter Marti Hicks and her husband Ken, grandchildren Stephen, David, Samantha, Keegan, Leah, Kameron and his wife Emily, Bobbi and her husband Roy, Kelsi and her husband Omar, and eight great-grandchildren.

Ruth’s funeral mass will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Yulee Florida on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Mass.

Graveside services will be held immediately after the Mass at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Cemetery.
