Sondra Leigh Odom

Sondra Leigh Odom, 85, of Fernandina Beach passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at UF Health North in Jacksonville.

She was born in Hendersonville, NC on May 5, 1937. She was the middle of three girls born to Roy Lee Baker and Stella Ruth James Baker.

Sondra was of the Baptist faith; she loved God, church and her Sunday school class. She has gone to be with her Lord Savior and loved ones.

A devoted Wife, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great- Grandmother as well as being very family oriented. She didn’t work outside the home after marrying Oscar Odom, but devoted all her energy to being a great home maker. She loved to cook and prepared great meals for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Anna Ruth Godbee.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories a devoted loving family that includes her husband, Oscar Odom, sister, Olivia Thomason (Larry) of Stone Mountain, GA, son, Bob Hays (Gina) of Opelika, AL, grandchildren, Heather Ledbetter(Brent), Kristen List (William), Karaleigh Hays, Andrew Hays, Emily Hay (Zac), Melody Hays, great-grandsons Leo Ledbetter, Nate & Henry Hay and granddaughter Navi List as well as numerous nieces and nephews along with many other loving relatives and friends.

A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 4, 2022 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM

She will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the (building fund) of the First Baptist Church, 1600 South 8th Street, Fernandina Beach, FL or the charity of your choice.
