Stephen Bryon Pierce
2017-10-04
Stephen Bryon Pierce, age 53, of Yulee passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems.
He was born on April 21, 1964 in Newcastle, IN to Steven Bennett and Mary Frances (Burns) Pierce.
Bryon moved to Florida in the fall of 1979 where he spent his teenage years. He became a volunteer firefighter for Flagler County at the age of 16. He worked as a paid firefighter with Kings Bay Fire Department for 2 years. In 1985, Bryon started his career with Nassau County Fire Rescue. He was one of the founding members of the newly formed county fire department, and one of the only employees to retire with a full 25 years of state retirement. Bryon shaped and influenced just about every current member of NCFR.
He took pride in everything about being a firefighter. Because Bryon was a true servant of the community, he was invited to become a member of the Masonic Lodge. Bryon loved the outdoors. He was an avid boater, fisherman, hiker, and hunter. After retiring from the fire department, Bryon developed a love for motorcycles. He helped establish Odins Council, and enjoyed a brotherhood with his fellow members.
