Steven Mauney
2024-08-01
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steven, who left us far too soon on August 1, 2024. Steven was born on December 6, 1968, in Jacksonville, FL. Steven was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend whose warmth and passion for life touched everyone around him.
A true enthusiast, Steven had an unwavering love for car shows, where his eyes would light up with the excitement of classic and modern automobiles. His passion extended beyond cars to collecting coins and knives.
Steven found immense joy in spending time with his family and neighborhood friends. His laughter and warmth were a constant presence, and his genuine care for others made him a cherished member of our little community, he never met a stranger. One of his most endearing qualities was his love for riding his prized gas-powered bike around the neighborhood. This simple pleasure brought him countless moments of happiness and was a testament to his free-spirited nature.
His absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear. Steven is survived by his Father Steven Bryson Mauney (Helen), Sister Christy Sutton (Joey), Nephew John Mauney (Wendy), Great- Nephews Jaxxon Mauney and Bryson Mauney, “Daddio” Bill Davis and his best friends David Newcomb and “Hillbilly” Faircloth, amongst other dear friends and family members and whose hearts are broken but who find solace in the joy he brought into their lives.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents Carole and Slats McElyea, his Mother Vicki Snyder, his brother Michael Mauney.
A celebration of his life will be announced in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Barnabas Center of Nassau County (barnabasnassau.org), Cats Angels of Fernandina Beach (catsangels.org) or Nassau County Humane Society (nassauhumane.org), in Steven’s honor.
Rest in peace, dear Stevo. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
