Suzie and Ron were part of our Small Christian Community for several years. We so enjoyed her joyful smile and bright disposition. While her refrain was "I don't know much about this", her thoughts and comments about whatever scripture we were discussing was always refreshing and insightful. I pray for the repose of her soul and for peace and consolation for Ron and the family.

I knew Susan or Suzie as I called her as her yoga teacher for many years. She last attended our chair yoga classes and was the light in the room. Funny, quick to laugh, smart and positive, we all loved her spirit. She will be sorely missed.

Susan Brawner Scheuermann, a resident of Fernandina Beach for the past 24 years, passed away on February 28, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald, and their children, Scott, Susan, and Justine.
Susan was raised in Coral Gables Florida through high school. She attended Duke University and was honored to be part of the university’s first class of women graduates. She relocated to New York City, and was employed as a systems engineer by IBM.
While attending an IBM special training program in upstate, New York, she met and fell in love with Ron, a computer salesman for IBM. After being joined in marriage, she and Ron began their life together in a brownstone on East 35th Street in New York City. They remained in New York for the first decade of their marriage, where they were blessed with the births of their first two children, Scott and Susan.
In the early 1970s, Susan and Ron decided to move their growing family to Montclair, New Jersey, where they welcomed their daughter Justine. They remained in the Montclair area for 30 years until Ron’s retirement when they began a new chapter of their adventure together on Amelia Island, Florida.
Susan was a loving grandmother to her four wonderful grandchildren, Ronald. Hannah, Ava and Lucas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecelia and Jean Brawner, and her sister, Bethany Brawner Traveisa.
A Memorial mass will be held at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at noon. There will be a reception following at the parish hall given by the family.
Please join her family in presence or in prayers as we celebrate the life of this incredible woman that we were all blessed to have known.
