Tammy Theresa Shelton

Tammy Theresa Shelton, age 46 of Yulee, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Shands of Jacksonville.

Born in Jacksonville, she was the daughter of Donald Burnsed and Joan Sharon Wells. Tammy was a lifelong resident of Yulee and a graduate of Fernandina Beach High School, Class of 1987. After high school she married George Shelton of Fernandina. In the following years they had two children. In the mid 1990s Tammy attended FCCJ in pursuit of a degree in Sports Medicine. In the late 1990s she earned her Bachelor�s Degree from the University of North Florida.

Since 1996 Tammy has worked as a Customer Service Representative in the LP Gas Industry. She began her career with Johnson Gas in Yulee and through the ensuing years and mergers worked for Sawyer Gas in Fernandina Beach before moving to Amerigas in Jacksonville.

As a child, she and her family attended the First Assembly of God in Callahan where she was Baptized in the Holy Spirit and later attended Springhill and Yulee Baptist Churches.

Tammy enjoyed living near and spending time on the beach, motorcycles, walking and time with her grandson, Rhett.

She is preceded in death by a nephew, Dylan McCormick.

Tammy leaves behind her daughter, Erica Leigh Crews (Donnie), Woodbine, GA, her son, Carlton James �C.J.� Shelton (Karlee), Fernandina Beach, FL, her mother, Joan Sharon Wells Parker (Walter), Yulee, FL, three brothers, Gerald Wyatt Lewis(Cindy), Green Cove Springs, FL, Phillip Norris McCormick (Valerie), Yulee, FL, Dewayne David �Bubba� McCormick, Fernandina Beach, FL, her grandson, Rhett Crews and three nieces, Storm, Phylen and Katie.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home.

Tammy will be laid to rest, near her nephew Dylan, in Hughes Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 -7:00 pm at the funeral home.
