Teresa Eleanor Wickham

2019-02-24

Teresa E. Terry Wickham (nee Saccone), age 66, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 after a four year journey with cancer. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 14, 1953 to the late Lawrence Saccone and the late Pauline Saccone. Terry attended H. Frank Carey High School and went on to graduate from Cortland State University in New York where she developed life-long friendships.

In 1985, Terry successfully founded Encore Forwarding, Inc. in partnership with her brother, the late Armand Saccone. She was Owner and President for over three decades, and devoted so much of herself to the business and the many relationships she cultivated over the the years through her work. As her business grew, so did her network of friends. Much of her time in the 80s and 90s was also devoted to being a close aunt (or A.T. as she was lovingly called) to her niece, Kerry and nephews Billy and Nick a role she always cherished.

Terry moved to Florida in 2003 and married the love of her life, Ron Wickham. They spent the last 15 years supporting, caring for, and loving each other. She had special bonds with Rons children and relished spending time with her grandchildren who brought so much joy to her life. She was a devoted member of Amelia Baptist Church where she spent many years volunteering as a Sunday School teacher.

An avid sports enthusiast, Terry loved her New York Yankees and always enjoyed a good tennis match. Her abiding passions were her family and sister friends. She loved nothing more than sitting and talking about life with the ones she loved especially over a good Italian meal. She not-so-jokingly referred to food as her love language. Terry also loved arts and crafts and enjoyed making things to gift to others always putting so much thought and detail into everything she created. She had an infectious zest for life and found beauty in simple things. An afternoon with Terry was guaranteed to be filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Above all, she had an unfailing faith in God and always sought to inspire others to seek a relationship with Him. Her generous, indomitable spirit will be missed by so many.

Terry is survived by her husband, Ron; step-children Daniel (Kelly) Wickham, David (Aimee) Wickham, Robert (Veronika) Wickham, Steven (Rhonda) Wickham; sister-in-love Maryann Saccone; nephews William (Kelly) Saccone, Nick (Hannah) Saccone; niece Kerry (Mike Shannon) Saccone; lifelong sister friend Barbara Pfeffer (Bob); her beloved grandchildren; many family members and close friends.

Visitation will be held at 2-3pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019 followed by the service at 3pm at Oxley-Heard 1305 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.

A gathering will take place at Amelia Baptist Church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Terrys memory to The Humane Society or the The Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville for their kindness and care over the last four years. We would also like to thank our friends and community for their constant support and encouragement.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Teresa was a very special lady. She was in my ladies Sunday School class and then left to help teach in our childrens department. She loved the children and they loved her. She always had a smile and hug for everyone, but especially for the children. I know that she knew Jesus as her Savior and that she is now in his presence with no pain. May you hold onto and be comforted by the memories of all the special time that you shared..

Dear Ron, family and friends, We can only hope that your memories of her kindness and her generous, loving spirit will get you through this hard time. She will be forever cherished by all who knew her. She touched so many lives in the most positive and loving way. She was an amazing woman and the most sincere person I have ever met. Please know how much she loves you all, still. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Ron, I met you and Terry in 2004, when my late husband, Jim Darazsdi and I moved In. We would continue to talk over the years as I walked my dogs or road my bicycle. I will never forget Terry stopping ny my house when Jim was dying of cancer and in hospice at the house. Terry offered on many occasions to pick up groceries and run errands for me when I could not leave the house. There are acquaintances/friends who leave a lasting print on your life story and Terry and Ron have done that.

When we heard the news today, my heart was broken for the entire Wickham/Saccone family. Terry was a remarkable woman. I am glad that I was able to be a part of her life for a short time. The impact she had on my life will be one that I will always be eternally grateful for. Earth lost a bright light, but heaven gained a very special angel. Ron, David, Bobbie, Daniel, Veronika, and the rest of the family are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Ron and the Wickham Family,
I wanted offer my deepest condolences to you and your family. I was given the wonderful opportunity to work with you wife for over 10 years. She has been a great customer during this time. Even more importantly we have become close friends. About 2 years ago Terry divulged her battle with Cancer. With her courage and faith we talked for a while and i was able to open up to her about some struggles I had been dealing with. We talked about our faith in God and how it was OK to not be afraid. After that we checked on each other regularly and kept each other in prayer. In our talks and knowing her faith was at ease that she knew she was going to be Ok. I will so greatly miss her and the talks we have had over the last two years. I pray that you and your family can celebrate her life. What a miraculous woman she was and I am honored to have known and worked with such a wonderful person. Rest in Peace Terry and we will see you again!
