Timothy Dale Kauffman

2020-09-08

Timothy Dale Kauffman, 61, of Fernandina Beach passed away Monday, September 7, 2020. He was the son of Carolyn Campbell and the late Frank D. Kauffman. Tim grew up in Fernandina Beach until the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he graduated from TG Browne high school. After graduation, Tim, returned to Fernandina and began a successful lifelong career in construction.

Tim loved spending time laughing and joking with his family. He handed out nicknames, like Stinky, and stacked up fish like cordwood with his brothers, friends and his cousin Joe. When he wasnt tearing up the Nassau River or offshore seas, he was trekking the Pennsylvania and Alaska woods for game. It was easy to spot Tim cruising around town in his iconic white BMW motorcycle with the sidecar; often occupied by his beloved black lab, Snapper.

Tim worked construction in Nassau County, notably with Clayton Buchanan Builders, and later privately as his own boss. Tim was instrumental in the construction efforts of the Carlton Dunes and many other projects in and around Nassau County.

Timothy leaves behind his son, Derek Kauffman; his mother, Carolyn Picard; his siblings, Frank (Peg) Kauffman Jr., Glenda Kauffman, David (Jan) Kauffman, Sheree (Lyle) Southwick, Jack (Susan) Kauffman and his girlfriend, Denese Harvley; along with many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Last but not least, his black lab Snapper.

A visitation service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 2:00 4:00 p.m. at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home.

GARRY FEHRMAN September 18, 2020
Thank you, Tim, for the memories of many years of the absolute best friendship imaginable, made all the richer by my awareness that a great many others received and treasured the same.
My large framed picture of you in Astrals rear cockpit spraying water up at a helicopter photographer capturing an image of us hauling ass back into port at the end of the day in a bill fishing tournament captures your spirit perfectly loving life large with your buddies. I walk by this picture several times every day, always pausing, smiling and thanking my lucky stars to have been your orbit. Rest in peace my friend.
