Ursula DiFilippi

2023-05-06

Ursula DiFilippi, 89, of Yulee, Florida passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Born on June 5, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York to James and Mildred Paolino. She grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1951. After leaving Brooklyn, she lived for many years in New Hyde Park, New York where she raised her family.

Ursula was the proud and loving mother to five children. Her children, as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends will remember her kindness, generosity, patience, good humor, and boundless energy. She was quick to laugh, to find the “silver-lining,” and to bring out the best in people despite the many challenges she faced throughout her life. Undoubtedly, her greatest joy was found in spending time with family.

Ursula worked at the Office of the County Clerk, Nassau County, New York, where she was well-liked and respected by her colleagues. She was an accomplished chef, known for her famous baked ziti, and loved entertaining family and friends especially for holiday dinners. She was passionate about her Catholic faith and was an active member of Saint Virgil’s parish in Morris Plains, New Jersey. She also enjoyed games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and reading at the Cornerstone Day Program in Morris Plains, New Jersey, and the Council on Aging Day Program (“The Club”) in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

She leaves behind her brothers, Michael Paolino and spouse Clelia, James Paolino and spouse Mary; children Mary Ann, Joseph, Anthony, Michele, and Melissa; grandchildren Jenna Hunt and spouse Gregory, Steven Paveglio and spouse Ashley, Renèe Paveglio and spouse Rajeev, Joseph DiFilippi and spouse Christine, Diana DiFilippi, Nicholas DiFilippi and spouse Alicia, and Benjamin DiFilippi; great-grandchildren Henry, Charlotte, Sophia, Aria, Chloè, Mia, James, Harper, Everly, Joey, and Cameron; nephews and nieces James Paolino, Marc Paolino, Eric Paolino, Sara Paolino, Michele Paolino and Marisa Paolino; and cherished family members Patricia Roberts, Cathy Scibelli, Malti and Onway Maharaj, and Shanti Stapleton.

Family and friends pray for Ursula’s eternal rest in the company of God, the Virgin Mary, and all the angels and saints in heaven.

A memorial service will be held on a future date.
