Vivian Darlene Cooner, 65, of Fernandina Beach went home to be with Jesus on Friday, May 14, 2021 from the Warner Center for Caring.

Born in Fargo, GA, Mrs. Cooner was a daughter of the late Walter and Carolyn Griffis O’Berry.

She moved to Fernandina Beach in the early 1970’s and made her home here since that time. Mrs. Cooner’s father was a pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy and her being raised in church led her to a faithful life where she loved and trusted in Jesus.

Always with a servant’s heart, she was able to care for children in her home and always had the home in her neighborhood where all the children enjoyed gathering and having a good time. Mrs. Cooner had a strong sense of being a caretaker. She enjoyed cooking and anybody who was able to sample her cooking could always taste that the food was prepared with love. For several years she owned and operated her own residential cleaning service.

She loved to sing and play the piano as well as working in her yard. She enjoyed doting on her children and grandchildren and she loved them without reservation.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Darrell O’Berry.

She leaves behind her husband, Huey G. Cooner; her children, Mark (Dorie) Chauncey, Heath (Lauren) Chauncey and Melia (Nick) Denmark, all of Fernandina Beach; her sister, Sylvia Foskey of Bonifay, FL and her three grandchildren, Kaylynn, Harper and Ryan Chauncey.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cooner will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastor Ricky Knox officiating. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service.

She will be laid to rest in Wingate Cemetery at a later date.
