Walter Tabaka

Walter Tabaka of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away peacefully at his home on July 13, 2023.

Born on May 1, 1947 in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Walter Tabaka and Jocelyn (Perez) Tabaka. He grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Western High School in 1966. After graduating from college with a BA degree in History and Communications from American University, he married Jan Selinger in 1971. Walt and Jan welcomed two children into their lives- Douglas and Jacquelyn.
Walter’s career began as a salesman with Duracell Batteries. He continued in sales until the last day of his life.

Walt enjoyed traveling. He and Jan travelled to places such as Germany, Spain, Mexico and Italy. He always enjoyed dining out. He had a unique sense of humor and struck up conversations with everyone around him. Walt was fun loving and quite the jokester. He enjoyed dancing and even perfected the dance to the YMCA. Above all, Walt enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, making many memories along the way.

He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Jocelyn Tabaka.

Walt leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Jan; his children, Doug (Andrea) Tabaka and Jackie Tabaka; brother, Alan Tabaka; sister, Sandra Hunt and grandchildren from Doug, Scott and Adriana.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home, 1305 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
