In Loving Memory of Wayne Orville Norton Sr. May 18, 1965 – May 24, 2026. It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Orville Norton Sr., who departed this world peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the age of 61.

Wayne was surrounded by the love and comfort of family and close friends during his final days, and by his best friend, soul mate, and the love of his life, his devoted wife, Sheila Norton, in his final moments at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Born on May 18, 1965, in Fort Dix, New Jersey, Wayne was the cherished son of the late Orville Bernard Norton and Judith Elizabeth Norton. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, whose memories he carried with him throughout his life. Wayne’s journey was enriched by the unwavering love and companionship of his wife, Sheila. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. After relocating from Virginia’s Eastern Shore to White Oak, Georgia, they created their own oasis—a place that reflected the strength of their enduring bond and the life they built together.

From an early age, Wayne displayed an entrepreneurial spirit. At just 17 years old, he became a business owner alongside his father, establishing Bandit Automotive in Nelsonia, Virginia. What began as an automotive venture grew into a successful tractor-trailer company, dump truck operation, and highly respected auto body shop. Wayne earned a reputation as one of the finest diesel mechanics in the area, admired for both his skill and work ethic. Later in life, Wayne partnered with his close friend Eugene “EJ” Johnson in the demolition business. Together, they tackled projects with determination, expertise, and a friendship that inspired those around them.

Wayne was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Known for his boundless generosity and enormous heart, his home on Mink Farm became a gathering place for family, friends, and neighborhood children. He loved firing up the grill, feeding anyone who showed up, and teaching kids how to ride ATVs and motorcycles. With his infectious laugh, playful spirit, and genuine care for others, he became a father figure to many, earning the affectionate title of “Dad” from countless young people throughout the years.

Beyond his work and service to others, Wayne found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved boating and fishing and had recently discovered a passion for woodturning. His craftsmanship produced beautiful bowls, vases, flower pots, cutting boards, urns, and countless treasured pieces that will continue to remind family and friends of his creativity and talent.

Wayne was a devoted father to his sons, Wayne Norton Jr. and Daniel “DJ” Norton, and a loving stepfather to Wayne Marshall Jr. of Parksley, Virginia. He was a proud grandfather to Kamden Norton of Onancock, Virginia, and Lacey Renee Marshall of Parksley, Virginia, both of whom brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Bina and her husband, Todd, of Virginia; Michelle Byrd and Bob Thornes of Onancock, Virginia; and Chrissy Ritsema and Derek, of Venice, Florida. Wayne leaves behind his lifelong friends Rusty Edge of Brick, New Jersey, Buddy Clayton of Nashville, Georgia and EJ Johnson of Muddy Creek; his nephew Jacob Thornes and niece Hannah Byrd, both of Onancock, Virginia; and Tommy Cisco and Jacqueline Cisco of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his loyal canine companions, Harley, his constant shadow, and Bodie, who both loved their daddy dearly.

Wayne will be remembered for his enormous heart, unwavering kindness, and willingness to help anyone in need. His love for riding Harleys with Sheila and his friends reflected his adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for life. The impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and in knowing that his legacy of love, generosity, laughter, and friendship will live on through all who were blessed to know him.

A Celebration of Life honoring Wayne will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Michelle (Shell).

Family and friends are invited to join in sharing memories, stories, and fellowship as we celebrate Wayne’s remarkable life and the lasting impact he had on all who knew and loved him Forever loved. Forever missed; Forever in our hearts.
