William "Billy" L. Veal

William “Billy” Lavon Veal, 49, of Fernandina Beach passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at UF Health in downtown Jacksonville.
Billy was born in Jacksonville and raised in Fernandina Beach. He was a son of Prudencia Veal and William R. Veal. He graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1994 and attended FSCJ. He worked for several years as a diesel mechanic and later in auto and truck repair. He also worked as a mechanic for the Yellow Cab Company in Jacksonville.
Billy enjoyed music, fishing and playing cards. He was always smiling and had lots of friends. He truly loved his parents and his daughter. He will be remembered for always speaking his mind and you never had any doubt as to where he stood about something.
Billy leave behind to mourn his loss, his daughter, Meshella Veal of Jacksonville; his mother, Prudencia “Lady” Veal of Fernandina Beach; his father William R. (Betty) Veal of Jacksonville; his 3 brothers, Michael Veal of Fernandina Beach, Ronald (Cletia) Veal of Austell, GA and Latrell (Stacy) Veal of Fernandina Beach; his sister, Shawn (Emory) Wingard of Fernandina Beach and a host of extended family members including Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
A service to remember and celebrate Billy’s life will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 beginning at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with the Rev. Dr.Darien K. Bolden, Sr. officiating.
