Billy, who was even more handsome that this photo shows, was full of life and such a great partner to his wonderful wife Lynn. He was always fun, a great golfer, a great conversationalist, and a generous man with his time and energy. He fought his battle and we thought he beat the cancer more than once. Losing him as a friend and a great part of our community is truly hard. Hugs to Lynn and the family.

My thoughts and condolences to Billy's family. We only knew one another professionally in the relatively small ecosystem of insurance technology companies and were usually on the opposite side of the negotiating able. But over probably 20 years of that and encountering one another in various high stress contexts Billy was always pleasant and made a point over the years to message me at various times when he saw me in the industry news or at an event. His easy polite manner in tough situations always stood out to me. Was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. May his memory be a blessing.

I worked with Billy for two years and he was a joy to have on the team. Billy was smart, always upbeat, and was such a nice person. My condolences to his family, I know you will miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss, Lynn. I was texting Billy at the end of April and he updated me on his journey over the last couple of years. I treasure the time I got to spend working with Billy and still think back to the concert you and he joined us at in Louisville. You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers. Craig and Jerri.

William "Billy" McCarter

2024-06-26

William (Billy) Stuart McCarter, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Billy was born on November 13, 1955, in LaGrange, Kentucky, to the late Edna Mae Broyles and Lawrence Hubert McCarter. He grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, where he graduated from Oldham County High and went on to achieve his MBA from Sullivan University.

Billy found the love of his life when he met Lynn Michelle Huff, and they married in 1985. Over the next five years, the couple welcomed two sons into the world, Bradley Stuart and Eric Michael McCarter. His sons remember him for his dedication to their family, his love for their mother, and as a man who overcame many hurdles to build a successful life and a loving home.

As an entrepreneur and executive in the technology and financial services industries, Billy was known as a thought leader and team builder who always found a way to inspire the best in those around him. Throughout his career, he pursued each opportunity with his all and made an impact on the lives and careers of many. He was generous with a smile, passionate about golf and investing time with friends, and loved by those who were fortunate to know him.

Billy leaves behind his wife of 39 years, his two sons, and his two beloved grandchildren (Logan Stuart and Sienna Joy McCarter), who are all better people for having him in their lives.

The Boys & Girls Club of America was an organization that had a meaningful impact on Billy. Donations in his memory can be made to your local club or to the national foundation. A Celebration of Billy’s life will take place in the Fall of 2024 in Amelia Island, Florida.
