In his 87th year and surrounded by family, Bill was called home by the Lord on April 2, 2022. Bill was born April 19, 1934 in Jamaica, New York to the late Marion Estelle (Taft) and William Edward Scaplehorn Sr.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps February 19, 1953 and served with pride and honor, including a tour of Viet Nam. He retired with the rank of Major on September 30, 1973. While serving in the Marine Corps, Bill married his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Ann (Query) on February 15, 1955. Upon retirement from the Marine Corps, Bill would partner to form and lead a successful wholesale company representing various manufacturers of consumer goods. In 1983, Bill and Barbara would settle in Melbourne, Florida where they became Founding Members of Suntree Country Club. Bill was an avid golfer and loved all things sports throughout his life. During his retirement, he and Barbara traveled extensively and enjoyed loving visits with their children and grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ann. To cherish his memory, Bill is survived by his loving children Kenneth William (Wendy), Steven Edward (Michelle) and Patricia Willow (Timothy Brannon); devoted grandchildren Michael (Megan), Robert, Sarah (Patrick Holland), Amanda (Ryan Williams), Katrina (Manuel Rodriguez), and Jack; and adoring great-grandchildren William, Henry, Isabelle and Callahan.
