William Edward Chalk

William Edward Chalk passed away peacefully on June 16th, 2026 at his home in Fernandina Beach, FL.
Born on August 2, 1946, in Pensacola, FL to the late Samuel Edward Chalk and Nelda Kelly Golnick Chalk, he grew up in Pensacola, FL spent summers on NC family farm and graduated from Escambia High School in 1964. He then attended 2 years at Pensacola Junior College and enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country. He married Kathi Gore in June 1967 in Pensacola, and was immediately stationed in Honolulu, HI. He served in Viet Nam on a USS Ranger aircraft carrier. The couple then welcomed their daughter Mitzy into the family July 1969. His daughter remembers him as a loving, playful Father who strongly encouraged her to pursue college and all her goals.
Ed Chalk was talented and accomplished in baseball, fishing, his Navy career, and shared his knowledge about airplanes and aircraft carriers with his daughter and all the children he came across. He coached baseball to elementary and middle school aged children and loved the beach. He was a generous, witty, and dedicated individual who was passionate about wildlife, camping, fishing, coaching, socializing, and spending time with his friends and family.
He was baptized in the Church of Christ in New Orleans and was an active member at Church of Christ in Lexington Park where he met and pursued the love of his life Beth Bloomingburg Seaton. They dated were married and united their families officially in June of 2003. They retired in Fernandina Beach, FL and together became members of Fernandina Beach Church of Christ.
William E. Chalk leaves behind his beloved wife of 23 years, Beth A. Chalk in Fernandina Beach, Florida; his daughter, Mitzy Chalk Galer (husband Bill and children Lanie and Jolie) of Jacksonville Beach, FL; his 3 step-sons, John Seaton (children Jason, Jacob, Monica, William, and Ethan) of Lexington Park ,MD; Jesse Seaton (wife Cortney and children Halle and Gavin) of Ridgeville SC; and Jim Seaton (wife Lauren and children Collin, Mack and Brynn) in Pawley’s Island, SC.
Funeral Services will be 11am to 12pm on Tuesday June 23, 2026 at Fernandina Beach Church of Christ.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am until the hour of service at 11am.
He will be laid to rest in Jacksonville National Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 pm sharp.
