Cherish many fond memories of working with Sully at Kings Bay and later with Electric Boat. We was a mainstay of an elite Submarine maintenance team. Knowledge and fun to be around. He enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest.

So very sorry to hear this. One thing for sure, they both loved Shaun, and were very proud of him. I knew Donna, what a wonderful person she was. I only met Sully after her passing. He was such a personable man. I truly enjoyed our talks, and he loved to talk. I really liked hearing about his next adventure. My thoghts and prayers are with you Shaun.

William O. "Sully" Sullivan
2026-07-21
William O. “Sully” Sullivan, 76, Fernandina Beach, passed away July 21, 2026 at home peacefully.
He was born on February 21, 1950 in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late John H. Sullivan and Ruth Osborne Sullivan. Sully met his wife, Donna M. Sullivan (nee Beliveau), working at Union Hospital in Lynn, MA. Sully then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at Kings Bay, GA from 1989 to 1996, which first brought him to Fernandina Beach. He retired from military service in 2000, in New London, CT, and the family returned to Fernandina Beach in 2004. Sully worked for General Dynamics out of the Kings Bay location before retiring and continuing to explore the world, never far from the depths of the oceans he loved so dearly.
With a love for travel, Sully and Donna spent their years exploring most of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and various locations throughout Europe. In 2019 he explored Antarctica and Argentina and 2023 he traveled to Dublin, Ireland to take in the University of Notre Dame vs. the Naval Academy in football with his son. When not traveling, he enjoyed his weekly golf tee time and lunch with “the guys,” where discussions rarely focused on the morning performance.
Sully was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Donna, who passed away in 2017.
He leaves behind his son, Shaun “Dork” Sullivan and granddog, Recon, of Cincinnati, OH. He also leaves behind a large community of loving friends in Fernandina, including Catherine, Mollie, the Golf Gang, and everyone that ever had the pleasure of conversing with Sully.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
