William Straub

2019-11-08

William Joseph Straub, 89, of Fernandina Beach passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at his home.

Born in Hastings on Hudson, New York, he was a son of the late Adam and Marion Abbott Straub.

After service in the U. S. Navy he spent many years owning and operating his own business, Capital Inventory, a firm which inventoried hospital pharmacies.

After making his home for a number of years in Woodstock, Georgia he and his wife, Louise, moved to Fernandina Beach 17 years ago. In Fernandina Beach he enjoyed family and friends and his passion for golf.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Straub was predeceased by a son, Adam Charles Straub and two brothers, Adam Straub and John Staub.

He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Louse Straub of Fernandina Beach; his children, William J. (Magdola) Straub, Jr. of Cartersville, Georgia, Elizabeth Ann Ruotolo of Boca Raton, Florida, John Edward Straub of Boca Raton, Florida, Charles Adam Straub of Del Ray, Florida, Marion Susan Demorest of West Haven, Connecticut, Sarah Walton (Sean) Bennett of Kingston, Georgia, David Duran (Jackie) Dunn of Fernandina Beach and DeAnna Lynn (Barry) Schempp of Acworth, Georgia; two brothers, Joseph Barnard Straub of Fernandina Beach and Alfred Straub of Dobbs Ferry, New York; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. Chaplain Jackie Hayes of Community Hospice will officiate.

After the service Mr. Straub invites those attending to join them at the Sandbar Restaurant to celebrate and remember his life.

With a heavy heart please accept the Aschenbach family condolences. Bill was not only my Friend, he was a true inspiration filled with life. He touched so many and I am Proud to have been a small part of his outstanding life. He is the Epitome of a great human being. I will miss him, but there will never be room to forget all the smiles he put on my face. Rest in peace my friend. We�ll tee it up some day.
