Zefferene Scruggs, 81, of Fernandina Beach passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019.

Born in Ogden, Arkansas she was a daughter of the late Napoleon and Vernice Brown Greene. She was educated in the schools of Madera, California. Though her working career was a full time one, she also raised her four sons and made a life for her family. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Madera for 30 years.

She retired from the Civil Service where she was a Housing Coordinator making both on-base and off-base housing arrangements for members of the U. S. Air Force. She had lived in Fernandina Beach for the last year, moving here to be near her son.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, Kevin earlier this year and son Stephen 25 years ago.

She leaves behind two sons, Emitte Scruggs and his wife, Yvonne of Fernandina Beach and Donnie Scruggs and his wife, Sharon of Atlanta; grandchildren, Xavier of Tampa, Florida, Dion of Chicago, Illinois, Stephen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tenesha and Anna, both of Stockton, California, Sasha of Richmond, Virginia, Casey of Anderson, South Carolina, Charles, Daniella and Chelsea all of Atlanta, Georgia; three great grandchildren, Isabelle, Ezekiel and Xander as well as several other extended family members.

There will be a service to remember and celebrate her life at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors.

She will be laid to rest at a later date in California.
